A semi-secret, right extremist organization founded by Robert Welch, a Massachusetts manufacturer "to oppose Communism". It was named after John Birch, a CIA agent killed in China after World War II ("the first victim of the cold war"). Birchite ['ba.rtfait] — бёрчист, член «Общества Джона Бёрча» A member, advocate, or follower of the John Birch Society and its principles. Also Birchen Birch ism ['bs.rtjizm] — бёрчизм.
